I am currently reading Derrick Jensen's Walking On Water, and it's got me all fired up about how much our ideas of education affect the shape of the system which we struggle against.
Our ideas of school and what school is supposed to do were founded on the notion that the role of public schooling is to create a society of subservient drones.
Sometimes it is hard to know what to fight for. Sometimes it feels like bringing it all down is the only option.
I would recommend this book highly to educators. Jensens style is enjoyable, and this book will reminds you why it's important to stay radical and question the answers for your students sake. Incidentally, the book has also got me wanting start to write more.
