The Best Non-Licensed Slots

Dices and chipsIt’s pretty common knowledge that licensed slots make more money than non-licensed ones – like, a LOT more. People are just naturally attracted to a brand and name that they recognize, and there’s nothing wrong with that. A slot with a name like “Cashapillar” may not do a whole lot to convince you to try your luck at it, but something as recognizable as “The Avengers” – a slot with the same name as a movie that made over $1.5 billion worldwide – will definitely catch your eye and will at least get you to check it out. As a result, many of the most popular slots online are licensed (meaning that they’re based on something), and if you need any proof for that, look no further than my own article about the most popular slots, which is notable for the hilarious misspellings of the names “Game of Thrones” and “Spider-Man” (hey, I was young and had no idea how to edit right – I’ve thought about going back and fixing it, but I think it’s funnier/more shameful to leave it as is). Developers have caught onto this trend, and as a result most of the popular slots that online casinos push in our faces are licensed. But not all of the slots that deserve your attention are based on something, and we’re here today to celebrate the absolute best slots which are not licensed! So in no particular order, let’s dive right into it!

1. Mega Moolah

Now, you know I couldn’t really do this list justice without “Mega Moolah”, right? I mean, come on, in that previous article I linked it was the very first slot I mentioned, and the only non-licensed one, so it only makes sense that I’d bring it up again! But how could I not – over the years, it’s made literally dozens of people into millionaires and actually holds the Guinness record for biggest jackpot from online slot of all time. That is beyond impressive, and more than worthy of granting “Mega Moolah” a second spot on one of my lists! Now, keep in mind that while the slot itself isn’t really that entertaining on its own, but just for that jackpot, I’d say it’s perfectly worthy of its spot here!

2. Machine Gun Unicorn

Ah, that’s one of my favorites! One thing you might have noticed about slots is that many of them seem to cater to a very young audience, with cutesy graphics, adorable characters and sweet animations… Which is very weird, because slots can only be played by adults, so what demographics are slots like “Kitty Glitter” trying to capture here, exactly? “Machine Gun Unicorn” takes the premise of cute, sweet, little animals (in this case, ponies) and completely turns it on its head with the introduction of guns, zombies and gore, and it is AWESOME!!! That’s how online slots ought to be – if you’re gonna aim for an adult demographic, just go all out! Sadly, this isn’t a game that is available in many of the best rated online casino of 2016, but that’s only because it’s very new. I’m sure that, with a bit of time, it’s going to make its way to your online casino of choice as well!

3. Avalon II

I had quite a debate with myself on whether I should include “Avalon II” or “Thunderstruck II” as my number 3 entry, since they’re both really great games, but ultimately, “Avalon II” won out due to the sheer number of bonuses that it has. Heavily inspired by Arthurian mythology, “Avalon II” explores King Arthur’s search for the Holy Grail, but also touches upon quite a lot of different aspects of the mythos, like Excalibur. All of these are represented by their own, unique bonus games, which brings the total number of bonuses to a very impressive number! And sure, I guess you can argue that I’m kind of cheating, since “Avalon II” is technically based on something and is not an entirely original creation, but since there’s no license attached to it I’d say that it counts – and besides, it’s great!
